Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho is willing to take a massive pay cut worth €2.5million to complete his move to his former club Borussia Dortmund (BvB), reported German newspaper BILD on Tuesday.
BvB are in constant talks with the Red Devils over a six-month loan deal for the Englishman and Sancho showed his willingness to complete the transfer by waiving his €2.5million salary.
Sancho currently earns € 18 million per year at the Manchester club, being one of the club’s top earners and BvB would have to pay part of his wages for the remainder of the season should the loan deal go through, which would be around €3-4million.
Man United has been causing the delay in the transfer as they have faced criticism from the fans for letting the Englishman go for such a small fee. The Red Devils want to communicate properly with the German club so they can finalise a deal that does not make them look bad from a PR perspective.
As per the report, there will be no permanent signing clause included in the deal and Sancho’s high wages plus the price United will ask, everything indicates that BvB will not go towards a permanent deal.
Sancho enjoyed great success at Dortmund where the forward played 137 matches, netting 50 goals and providing 64 assists which earlier him a move to the Manchester club for a record €100m fee.
After joining Man United in 2021, Sancho went on to play 82 games where he managed to bag 12 goals and six assists but he fell out of favour with head coach Erik Ten Hag and has been sidelined since then.
It all started on September 3 when the English footballer was left out of United's squad which faced a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
When asked the reason for Sancho's exclusion from the squad, Ten Hag explained that the decision was taken following the 23-year-old's poor performances during training sessions.
However, the Dutchman's comments were not ignored or taken lightly by Sancho who decided to speak up in order to defend himself.
